Graphic Explanation:

We arrived at our design by considering what happened to initiate this course - namely joining of separate departments of Design and Biological Sciences. The image strives to show two separate groups (the two elements making up the right side of the face) coming together with the human form (on the left) to form one singular identity. The course goal is to produce a prototype which could in some way improve the current condition of one's body.

With that in mind, the two aspects that form the side of the face were comprised of the visual and the scientific. The elements surrounding the left side of the image were created to represent the influence of both fields of study. The design represents the future involvement, and the historical overview of the broad topic of body improvement. There also is the consideration of materials that are acceptable for implanting within the human body. The possible materials to use are demonstrated by the "root structure," sprouting out from specific areas of the facial structure. The interface with the body is exhibited by certain elements of the body at its most basic, exemplified by the representation of blood vessels and the X-Ray view of the head.

The image is compromised of only a head, as body enhancement and alteration affects the patient on a psychological level, as well as superficial. In all, this image should remain timeless as a visual depiction of body modification and enhancement for both past, and future generations.
